Diese ÖNORM legt die Anforderungen an Material und Gestaltung einschliesslich der Schutzmassnahmen fest, die einen Rückfluss des Wassers in das örtliche Wasserversorungsnetz ebenso verhindern wie ein Eindringen der Mundhöhlenflüssigkeit in das Wasserversorgungssystem des Behandlungsgerätes.
