A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

Diese Internationale Norm definiert Korrosionsbegriffe, die in der modernen Wissenschaft und Technologie weit verbreitet benutzt werden. In Ergänzung dazu sind einige Definitionen mit kurzen Erklärungen versehen. Im Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm sind die YUPAC-Empfehlungen für das Vorzeichen des Elektrodenpotentials berücksichtigt. Der Begriff Metall wird so verwendet, dass er Legierungen und andere metallische Werkstoffe einschliesst.
