Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM enthält besondere Anforderungen an die Bauart, Prüfung und Kennzeichnung von elektrischen Betriebsmitteln, Teilen elektrischer Betriebsmittel und Ex-Bauteilen in der Zündschutzart Sandkapselung 'q', die für die Verwendung in gasexplosionsgefährdeten Atmosphären vorgesehen sind. Diese Norm ergänzt und modifiziert die allgemeinen Anforderungen von IEC 60079-0. Diese Norm gilt für elektrische Betriebsmittel, Teile von elektrischen Betriebsmitteln und Ex-Bauteile mit - einem Bemessungs-Versorgungsstrom bis 16 A, - einer Bemessungs-Versorgungsspannung bis 1000 V, - einer Bemessungs-Leistungsaufnahme bis 1000 VA.
