Diese ÖVE/ÖNORM EN beschreibt Rundsteckverbinder M12, die üblicherweise für die Prozessmessung und -regelung/- steuerung in der Industrie verwendet werden. Diese Steckverbinder bestehen aus festen und freien Steckverbindern - entweder wiederanschliessbar oder nicht wiederanschliessbar mit Schraubverriegelung. Die männlichen Steckverbinder haben runde Kontakte d = 0,6 mm, d = 0,76 mm, d = 0,8 mm und d = 1,0 mm. Die verschiedenen Kodierungen verhindern das Stecken der kodierten männlichen und weiblichen Steckverbinder mit jeder anderen Schnittstelle sowie das Stecken von verschiedenen Kodierungen untereinander.
