In dieser ÖVE/ÖNORM werden eine Reihe von vorgeschriebenen Bedingungen festgelegt, die einzuhalten sind, damit die Anforderungen an die Dämpfung und an die Rückflussdämpfung von zusammengefügten Paaren beliebig ausgewählter Fasern erfüllt werden. Entsprechend den Messungen von Einfügungsdämpfung und Rückflussdämpfung erfolgt die Einteilung in vier Leistungsklassen.
