In der vorliegenden ÖVE/ÖNORM werden die Normen und bestehenden Projekte festgelegt, die die Masse von Ferritkernen behandeln. Diese Norm umfasst Ferritkerne, auf die in der Industrie häufig Bezug genommen wird, weil sie entweder in nationalen Normen festgelegt sind oder ihre Anwendung in der Industrie weit verbreitet ist. Soweit möglich, sollte die bestehende industrielle Bezeichnung für jedes Normteil mit dem Teil innerhalb dieser Normenreihe übereinstimmen. Zum Anwendungsbereich dieser Norm gehören keine Sonderanfertigungen von Ferritkernen mit beschränk-ter Anwendung. Ausserdem sind Sonderkerne ausgeschlossen, die nur geringfügig abgewandelte Varianten von Normkernen darstellen.
