Provides guidance on the substitution of electronic components used to manufacture electronic equipment, intended to be used by both procurement and design personnel. Includes guidance on those components where it is preferable to use "better than" characteristics, in addition to those where it is not safe. Gives examples of each kind of component family, such as resistors and integrated circuits. Also provides guidance on dealing with changes in the quality approval systems which apply to electronic components.
