Applies to lead-acid batteries of the valve-regulated type for cyclic and stand-by application having rated capacity not in excess of 25 Ah. The cells in this type of battery (lead-acid) either contain flat-plate electrodes in prismatic containers or spirally wound electrodes in cylindrical containers. The electrolyte in the cells is immobilized either by absorption in a microporous material or in the form of gel. Not applicable to automotive starter batteries. Defines dimensions, terminals and marking for standard type designations.
