Specifies safety and verification of those requirements for the design, fabrication and use of portable, hand-held, pole-mounted powered pruners with a back-pack power unit, using a drive shaft to transmit power to cutting attachments. Also specifies methods for the elimination of hazards arising from their use, type of information on safe working practices to be provided by the manufacturer. Not covers the risk of electric shock from overhead electric power lines during use of the pruners. Test method and safety requirements regarding electric shock are yet to be developed.
