Bibliography
Establishes a single tear method to determine fabric tear force, known as the wing test using a test specimen that has been cut to form two wings for clamping and inclined at a defined angle to the thread direction. The test force measurement is the force needed to propagate a previously started tear. Applies primarily to woven textile fabrics, but can also be applied to fabrics produced by other techniques. Does not generally cover knitted fabrics, woven elastic fabrics and non-wovens, where the trapezoidal test would be more favourable.
