Sets forth Bellcore's preliminary view of proposed generic requirements and characteristics required of optical fiber cleaving tools that should be met in order to provide for satisfactory operation in a typical BCC environment. It contains the information necessary to perform a product analysis on an optical fiber cleaving tool, including requirements for features and characteristics of the tool itself, method of analyzing the quality of the cleave, and procedures for environmental testing. This document is Issue 2 of TR-264 and supersedes Issue 1. The differences between the two documents are substantial. New requirements are given for Angled Cleavers, Multi-Fiber Cleavers and Low Precision cleavers. Testing of product in various environments is added.
