Establishes Bellcore's preliminary view of proposed generic criteria for Optical Fiber Amplifier (OFA) performance. This document addresses OFAs as components as well as stand-alone units for use in Central Office (CO) and Controlled Environmental Vault (CEV) environments. It assumes a uni-directional single-wavelength, digital signal transmission, which can be of an asynchronous or SONET format. This document intends OFA usage in upgraded FITL, LEC interoffice, and loop feeder applications. This document has been developed consistent with Bellcore TR-NWT-000253: Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) Transport Systems: Common Generic Criteria and Bellcore TA-NWT-000909: Generic Requirements and Objectives for Fiber In The Loop Systems.
