The Intelligent Workstation System (IWSS) is proposed as a system to supplement and/or replace existing position equipment used by human operators to provide Operator Services. The IWSS would take advantage of recent advances in workstation technology and a Bellcore specified interface to the OSS switch to increase a Bellcore Client Company's (BCC) flexibility in procuring position equipment and the ability of the BCC to develop new operator services independently of the OSS switch. It includes requirements for the application layer protocol, lower layer interface options, maintenance messaging and configurable information that must be maintained in support of the interface
