SWITCH PROCESSING TIME GENERIC REQUIREMENTS
01-12-1993
12-01-2013
This TA proposes values for switch processing time requirements. Throughout the various phases of an end user's involvement in a call, switch processing times are one of the largest contributors to delays that the end user may perceive. Switch processing time requirements are important to a variety of people including network planners and designers, service planners, and designers evaluating the performance of telecommunications services, and switching system designers, manufacturers and vendors. The TA proposes a methodology for categorizing the various types of switch processing, and proposes mean and 95% values as requirements for each of these categories. Eventually, these proposed requirements should be included in upcoming revisions of several documents related to switching system requirements.
