This Technical Advisory (TA) document defines Telcordia's view on preliminary generic requirements and objectives for both single-mode and multimode digital transmission systems aimed for use within a Local Exchange Carrier (LEC). It is applicable to interoffice trunk systems and distribution plant loop feeder systems, and informs fiber optic equipment designers and manufacturers of the operational, engineering, maintenance, and technical requirements that must be met to ensure the satisfactory operation of such systems within a LEC.
