Describes Bellcore's view of the generic requirements for circuit maintenance of POTS and special services on digital loop carrier (DLC) systems. Issue 2 of this document is a significantly revised & expanded version of Issue 1. It contains requirements for universal DLC systems, integrated DLC systems, & test systems for DLC circuit maintenance. The requirements address both equipment functions as well as the commands & responses which pass between DLC systems, test systems, & maintenance operations systems. An appendix contains six new generic commands needed for DLC circuit testing in a forward-looking operations environment.
