Is used for determining the free water (hygroscopic moisture) in coating pigments and fillers, using an oven-dry procedure. Any matter volatile at 105 deg C will be included as moisture. Based on experimental data, this method is considered more accurate that other methods for moisture, such as TAPPI 208 "Moisture in Wood, Pulp, Paper and Paperboard by Toluene Distillation", by measuring the dielectric constant, or by using a moisture balance.
