A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

This document, together with its addenda, provides uniform test methods for testing the fiber optic components intended for, or forming a part of, optical communications and data transmission systems. This document is an "umbrella" for only those (informative) test methods that apply to non-specifiable parameters. For specifiable parameters, which require standard test procedures, refer to the series under the umbrella of EIA/TIA 455 A.
