Defines Telcordia's view of proposed generic requirements for One Pair Aerial Service Wire. Such wire is intended for use as an aerial drop wire for extending a telephone circuit from a distribution cable terminal to the subscribers station protection. The wire contains two parallel 18 1/2 or 18 American Wire Gage (AWG) copper covered steel conductors encased in an oval shaped single layer of weather resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or synthetic rubber. This document covers generic requirements for: functional criteria, and mechanical and electrical attributes. Test methods to help in comparing the product against the stated requirements are also provided.
