Presents Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements specifying the Signaling System Number 7 (SS7) protocol and architecture. These specifications are intended to be compatible with the latest relevant ANSI T1 Standards agreements. This document specifies the Message Transfer Part (MTP); Signaling Connection Control Part (SCCP); ISDN user Part (ISDNUP); Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP); Operation, Maintenance and Administration Part (OMAP); and Interworking of ISDN Access and Network Signaling. This two-volume document is the fundamental specification of SS7, which is used as a basis for other Bellcore generic requirements documents for Common Channel Signaling (CCS) network elements.
