Provides Bellcore's view of proposed generic requirements for local switching systems that offer ISDN capabilities over the basic access interface. Addresses call establishment & clearing procedures for signaling over the basic access interface & interworking with existing networks. The requirements are based on the concepts included in evolving national & international ISDN Standards. Covers call control for ISDN access arrangements defined by the International Telegraph & Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT). This document takes the requirements contained in Issue 2 & extends them in order to support primary rate access in addition to basic access. Also includes material for supporting multiple user application on both basic & primary rate interface configurations as an objective.
