Defines Telcordia's view of the overall system functions necessary to support a Universal Digital Channel (UDC) in the local telephone loop. It defines various ways in which UDC may be deployed and specifies the generic requirements and aims for each deployment scheme. It establishes service interfaces that can be supplied by a UDC and defines the relevant service parameters, and gives the generic requirements for powering, monitoring, and testing the UDC equipment. Revision 1 replaces Bulletin 1, revising the TR to include generic requirements for the use of dc signatures by the UDC Self-Test Interface and gives a section on metallic access to the DSL.
