The purpose of this standard is to define the characteristics that shall be met and the tests that shall be passed by connection elements intended to connect cables to electrical equipment and electrical cables to each other.



The scope of this standard is established for accessories intended for single-core cables for the distribution of electrical energy in low and medium voltage networks up to 18/30 (36) kV, and includes the following:



Compression terminals.



Mechanical tightening terminals.



Compression splice connectors.



Splice connectors by mechanical tightening.



Compression bypass connectors (use in low voltage networks).



Branch connectors by mechanical tightening (use in low voltage networks).



Connection elements for separable connectors

This standard does not apply to bare conductor connectors and type RZ overhead cables (which have been designed with specific mechanical requirements).
