The purpose and scope of this standard is to establish the minimum requirements that apply to the design, installation, operation, testing and maintenance of automatic fixed fire-extinguishing systems for the protection of commercial kitchens.The protection includes both kitchen appliances such as the hood, plenum and extraction ducts.Household kitchens or industrial food production equipment are not covered by this standard. However, under certain analogy conditions it could be used as a reference.Likewise, the extinguishing tests are incorporated to verify their effectiveness in type homes that determine the limits of application of the system.
