1.1 This practice describes the operation and productioncontrol of metal powder bed fusion (PBF) machines andprocesses to meet critical applications such as commercialaerospace components and medical implants. The requirementscontained herein are applicable for production components andmechanical test specimens using powder bed fusion (PBF) withboth laser and electron beams.1.2 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
