La norma specifica i requisiti per la fabbricazione, prestazione, imballaggio primario ed etichettatura dei petardi a fiamma e delle batterie di petardi a fiamma e i corrispondenti metodi di prova. Si applica ai fuochi artificiali, che sono classificati come petardi a fiamma e batterie di petardi a fiamma nelle categorie 1, 2 e 3 secondo la UNI EN 14035-2 e che hanno una composizione a scoppio pirotecnica basata su nitrato/metallo oppure perclorato/metallo.
