La norma specifica un metodo mediante spettrometria ad emissione ottica al plasma accoppiato induttivamente (ICP OES) per la determinazione del contenuto di manganese da circa 0,5 mg/l a circa 7,5 mg/l e del contenuto di ferro da circa 1,4 mg/l a circa 6,0 mg/l nella benzina senza piombo contenente fino a 3,7% (m/m) di ossigeno.
