La norma specifica i requisiti prestazionali dei materiali, degli assemblaggi di materiale e degli indumenti di protezione a propagazione di fiamma limitata allo scopo di ridurre la possibilità che un indumento bruci, quando in contatto occasionale e breve con piccole fiamme, rappresentando in tal modo un pericolo esso stesso. Sono specificati inoltre requisiti supplementari per gli indumenti.
