Diese Norm gilt für die Anforderungen bei Typprüfungen für Kabelgarnituren in Verbindung mit extrudierten Kunststoffkabeln wie in HD 620 beschrieben. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Garnituren für spezielle Anwendungsbereiche, z. B. Seekabel, Schiffskabel oder für den Einsatz unter gefährlichen Bedingungen (explosive Umgebung, feuerbeständige Kabel oder Erdbebengefährdung).
