Diese Leistungsanforderungen sollen insbesondere gelten für aufzeichnende Elektrokardiographen, Elektrokardiographen, die Teil eines medizinischen Geräts sind, welche als Ausgabeneinheiten für EKG-Datenbanksysteme, als analysierende Elektrokardiographen, als Systeme und Computeranlagen, als Teile von Patientenmonitoren oder anderen speziellen Elektrokardiographen genutzt werden und für die Teile von Patientenmonitoren oder anderen speziellen Elektrokardiographen, welche fähig sind, Funktionen der Analysierenden Elektrokardiographen auszuführen.Diese Besonderen Festlegungen ergänzen IEC 60601-2-25 und ihre Änderung 1 (1999).
