This standard specifies the minimum requirements for the materials and protective coatings to be used in the manufacture of basic types of playground equipment intended for use in parks, schools, preschools and domestic situations. It also specifies labelling requirements and instructions for erection and maintenance. The standard assumes that the equipment, although intended to be used by children only, will be capable of withstanding limited use by adults in unsupervised areas. Information on painting methods is given in an appendix.
