Includes loads and design criteria for structures, maximum heights, safety requirements for safe access including handrails and guardrailing, with additional requirements and recommendations related to static, swinging, rocking and rotating equipment. A method for testing for head entrapment points is included. The rationale for the head entrapment test and a guide to the design loads that might be expected are given in appendices.

This standard specifies generalrequirements, for the design and construction ofplayground equipment, that are intended to minimizepotential hazards in such equipment. It also specifiesloads and design criteria for members andcomponents used in the construction of playgroundequipment from materials specified in Part 1 of thisstandard.NOTE: Siting of playgrounds, installation and maintenance ofequipment and surfacing materials are covered in AS 2155.
