1.1This practice covers procedures for the collection and preparation of representative samples of coke. These samples may be used for physical and chemical analyses.

1.2Coke, especially run of oven furnace coke and foundry coke due to its large top size, can be a difficult material to sample. It is imperative that every sample be collected and handled carefully and in strict accordance with the standard procedures described herein and within the referenced standards.

1.3The following ISO standards2 shall be the governing documents specifying requirements for the sampling and preparation of metallurgical coke:
