Allows the user to measure the sound level associated with specific processes in a reproducible manner permitting comparison with other processes. It does not apply to the determination of operator exposure to process sound. It ensures that data obtained by different individuals in different locations are comparable. The sound level meter and associated equipment used in the measurement procedure shall be an ANSI S1.4 Type 1 (also known as S1A).
