States particular conditions for determining the viscosity number (Staudinger function Jv) and limiting viscosity number (Staudinger index Jg) of polyethylenes and polypropylenes at 135 Degree C in dilute solution. Suitable for low, medium and high-density polyethylenes and a wide range of polypropylenes. Viscosity of polymer solutions may be affected by additives present in the sample. The results could be unreliable of the sample contains fillers or other additives. Illustrates ubbelohde viscometer modified for high-temperature tests.
