This British Standard applies to ferrous and non-ferrous tubing supplied in straight lengths in a suitable condition for the fabrication of the pressure-responsive components of gauges and instruments operating on the Bourdon principle.

Detailed chemical compositions are specified and a series of sections, with appropriate tolerances, is specified for “oval” tubing.

The types of tubing specified are as follows:

Non-ferrous Section
Beryllium copper 2
Brass 3
Phosphor bronze 4
Ferrous
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel 5
Stainless steel 6
Iron-nickel-chromium-titanium (precipitation hardening) alloy 7
