Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This method measures air leakage of door and shutter assemblies under ambient temperature conditions as being representative of smoke penetration occurring from the early stages or at a remote position from a fire occurring in a building.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Section of this British Standard describes a method for measuring smoke penetration, as represented by the measurement of air leakage rate, through doorsets and vertically oriented shutter assemblies under ambient temperature conditions. This method is used to evaluate the performance of a fire door used for smoke control purposes but gives no information on the fire resistance of a fire door for which the methods described in BS 476-22 are applicable.
