    Considers standards related to layers 1-4 of the OSI reference model, with the following objectives: Describe role and functions carried out by each layer. List relevant ISO standards. Describe considerations and recommendations for use of standards in application context of part 6. Describes use of standards in their applications to end systems (ES) and intermediate systems (IS).ES contains all seven layers of the OSI reference model in addition to an application process, while the IS acts as a communication relay between sub-networks.
