La polarizzazione del connettore è ottenuta tramite la forma trapezoidale del suo corpo. Questa famiglia di connettori è prevista per essere utilizzata in apparecchiature per telecomunicazioni e per il trattamento di dati e per altri dispositivi elettronici impieganti tecniche similari. La presente norma copre soltanto i contatti amovibili da aggraffare con fusti chiusi.
