This standard is included in DIN Handbook 376. The method specified serves to determine the water content at the shrinkage limit of fine-grained and mixed-grained soils as classified in DIN 18196. It permits a qualitative assessment where such soils have a low water content. Use is made of this method in the fields of earthworks, foundation engineering and hydraulic this method in the fields of earthworks, foundation engineering and hydraulic engineering.
