Das Dokument gilt vornehmlich für die Berechnung des Energieverbrauchs und zur Unterstützung von Simulationsrechnungen für Heiz- und Raumlufttechnische Anlagen, wobei die Unterlagen der Gradtagsverfahren hier nicht wiederholt werden. Das in dieser Norm enthaltene Tabellenwerk und die Erläuterungen über Klimadaten stellen die Grundlage dar für Einzelbetrachtungen, Näherungsberechnungen und auch für detaillierte ganzjährige thermische Simulationen. In dieser Norm werden keine Rechenverfahren zur Weiterbearbeitung der Daten angegeben.
