Contains rules for the preparation and use of calibration block 1 which should be available to the ultrasonic tester for the most commonly needed equipment adjustment and monitoring functions, particularly if the testings involve unalloyed and low alloy carbon steels. The measuring facilities described are, however, not adequate for the purpose of making a detailed comparison of the suitability of different kinds of equipment and probe for a specific test duty (characterized by the type of flaw, the material and the geometry of the test piece) (see, for example, Sections 6 and 7).
