Diese Norm gilt im Rahmen von DIN 57636 Teil 1/VDE 0636 Teil 1 für Niederspannungs-HochleistungsSicherungen (kurz NH-Sicherungen) nach DIN 43620 Teil 1, Teil 3 und Teil 4 für den Anlagenschutz, d.h. für Schaltgeräteschutz aM, Bergbauanlagenschutz gB und Transformatorenschutz gTr; sie gilt ferner für NH-Sicherungsleisten nach DIN 43623. Sie gilt auch für genormte NH-Sicherungseinsätze mit Schlagvorrichtung sowie für NH-Sicherungsunterteile und NH-Sicherungsleisten mit Auslösevorrichtungen.
