Für diese Norm gilt der Anwendungsbereich und Zweck nach DIN VDE 0800 Teil 1/05.89, Abschnitt 1. Diese Norm beschreibt ein Prüfverfahren zum Nachweis des Schutzes bei indirektem Berühren bei Anwendung der KU-Werte. Darüber hinaus enthält sie auf KU-Werte gestützte vereinfachte Auslegungsregeln für Schaltungen, die nur von einer Spannungsquelle gespeist werden. Sie ergänzt die Grundlagen für die Sicherheit hinsichtlich Errichten bzw. Herstellen, Erweitern, Ändern, Betreiben und Prüfen der Fernmeldeanlagen und Fernmeldegeräte nach DIN VDE 0800 Teil 1.
