Specifies the procedures to be used for the ultrasonic testing forgings for 18 per cent Chromium 18 per cent Manganese generator coil retaining rings, by means of ultrasonic flaw detection equipment under surface contact and/or immersion conditions. It is specific to 18 Chromium 18 Manganese forgings and if it is desirable to use it for other materials, it will be necessary to review the criteria for the grass and attenuation levels. The precise method together with acceptance criteria will be stated in the relevant product specification. Applies only to forgings in the rough-machined condition and does not include any requirements related to the finished product.
