Current
The latest, up-to-date edition.
Gives the generic requirements for Basic 911 Emergency Service. The basic 911 emergency service feature provides a 3-digit universal telephone number (911) that gives the public direct access to an emergency service bureau, usually without charges to the calling subscriber. The emergency service is 1-way only, terminating at the service bureau. Call Tracing - The call tracing feature allows identification of calling lines to determine the source of nuisance or threatening calls and to identify lines in emergency or demand situations. Group Alerting Service - Group alerting service permits the controller (or alerting party) to dial a code to signal a preselected number of telephones simultaneously.
