ISA-62453-306 (103.00.07)-2011, Field Device Tool (FDT) interface specification – Part 306: Communication profile integration – IEC 61784 CPF 6, describes how INTERBUS (IEC 61784 CPF 6) integrates with the field device tool* (FDT) system so devices on industrial networks can communicate within a client/server setup. INTERBUS connects sensors, actuators and controllers. This standard explains how data moves across the network using structured interfaces and data models. It specifies the use of Device Type Managers (DTMs) from device manufacturers to enable engineering tools to work with specific devices. This document provides protocol and physical layer identifiers, data types for network management and communication, channel parameters and device identification. Furthermore, it defines device and channel data structures, formats for communication requests and responses and how addressing, scanning and scan results are managed across multi-vendor systems common in process industries.
