Deze Europese norm specificeert eisen voor lange producten en platte producten in warmgewalst lasbaar fijnkorrelig constructiestaal van kwaliteits- en speciaalstaal. Deel 1 van deze Europese norm specificeert de algemene leveringsvoorwaarden. Deel 2 van Europese norm specificeert de leveringsvoorwaarden voor normaal gegloeide staalsoorten in de sterkteklassen en kwaliteiten als genoemd in tabel 1 (chemische samenstelling) en de tabellen 3 en 4 (mechanische eigenschappen) van deel 2. De staalsoorten gespecificeerd in deze Europese norm zijn speciaal bestemd voor de toepassing in zwaar belaste delen van gelaste constructies zoals bruggen, sluisdeuren, opslagtanks, watertanks, enz., voor gebruik bij omgevingstemperatuur en lage temperaturen.
