L'ISO 10110 prescrit la représentation des exigences de conception et des exigences fonctionnelles des éléments et systèmes optiques, sur les dessins techniques utilisés pour la fabrication et le controle. La présente partie de l'ISO 10110 prescrit la représentation concernant les dessins des caractéristiques, en particulier les tolérances, des éléments et des systèmes optiques. Les règles pour la préparation des dessins techniques ainsi que la cotation et le tolérancement sont données dans diverses normes internationales. Ces normes générales s'appliquent aux éléments et systèmes optiques uniquement si les règles nécessaires ne sont pas données par les différentes partie de l'ISO 10110.
