La présente Norme internationale spécifie les critères et les essais de performances de sécurité fonctionnelle, relatifs au développement des systèmes de controle-commande de sécurité, utilisant des composants électroniques dans les engins de terrassement et leur équipement tels que définis dans l'ISO 6165. Les modes opératoires de l'ECE R79, Annexe 6, de l'ISO 13849-1 ou de la CEI 62061 peuvent être utilisées en alternative pour peu qu'une vérification et un essai soient menés par le constructeur en utilisant l'Article 7 de la présente Norme internationale.
